To assist with discovering the patterns and beliefs you may seek to change, I provide an interpersonal psychotherapeutic model of counseling. Simply put, I believe that it is through interpersonal relationships that we learn and discover our understanding of self and others. When this process has caused pain and heartache, it is through interpersonal relating that we find healing. As a therapist, I seek to establish an open and safe environment for clients to express themselves candidly. Clients may then expect to be met with honesty and empathy to gain a clearer understanding of how they engage with others, and what they may need in return.
Each of us are different and each of us approach counseling with different needs. Through my graduate education I have been trained in and integrate practices of trauma narrative therapy, interpersonal psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness. While working with children, adolescents and parents, primarily in the Seattle Public School setting I have been trained and employed the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and attachment theory. My objective is to listen to and understand each client as a person, and to provide that client with what may be needed in each session.
